The photographs were taken during a trip to China where I participated in the Symposium of Asian-Pacific Mammalogy held in Huirou on the outskirts of Beijing. While in
Beijing, Doug and I visited the Forbidden City, The Great Wall site at Mutianyu, and the Milu Reserve, created to repatriate Pére David's deer, at Nanhaizi. After the symposium, we joined a tour to the Inner Monglia Autonomous Region where we toured several sites in the vicinities of Hohhot, the capital city, the
Daqing Shan (Great Black Mountains),
Damaoqi, on the grasslands of the Mongolian Plateau, and the city of
Baotou, a major iron and steel production centre.
